Classes
Education is primary to the mission at Brazee Street School of Glass (SOG). Because different people learn in different ways, Brazee Street School of Glass offers all types of classes for every type of student. Whether you're looking for a short, two-hour introduction to glass (Make+Bakes) or a more in-depth look at warm glass processes including fusing, slumping and casting (Comprehensives), Brazee Street School of Glass offers ample opportunities.

Fusing: Independent Studio Time
Thursdays: 1:00–8:00pm (Except 1st Thursday of the month)

Fusing: Independent Open Studio is a unique opportunity to use our facilities to work on your own kilnformed glass projects. Students who have participated in a kilnforming class at Brazee Street School of Glass are eligible to use our classroom, tools, and kiln space while working along side other glass artists during these free-form sessions.

Capitalize on the transparency of glass to create an original fused glass block. This class will focus on drawing with glass techniques to translate images, drawn and photographic, into original thick blocks. Students will work through samples, break down images, and learn to load and assemble their own parts to whole.

In this session, young artists will use "frit paint" and accessory glass to decorate unique glass bugs for the summer show in gallery One One, opening June 8th. Students will be asked to make as many bugs as they can during the hour, then they will choose one to take home, leaving the rest for the gallery.

STACKS Bowl

In this exciting two-hour class students will be guided through the basics of glass cutting, then will design and create their own original 11'' STACKS bowl. This is a perfect class to get a feel for the basics of glass fusing, and will orient you to our studio and glass cutting tools so that you can work independently during Open Studio time to create your own future fused glass projects. Coldworking 101

Architectural Kilncarving

Choose an image of your childhood home, your favorite building or landmark, or any other structure in architecture and translate it into a relief on glass. Students will work with a light-box to extract basic elements and shapes from their structure, then recreate it in fiber paper to create a relief. Learn ways to manipulate fiber to create different kilncarved effects such as texture, depth, and light. No experience necessary.

What A Relief - Kilncasting 101

Create an original kilncast glass relief from start to finish. Students will be guided through the entire kilncasting process, from model making in clay to hand-building a refractory mold to be fired in the kiln. Students will be working in relief to create one original kilncast piece, illustrating the depth and detail made possible with kilncasting. No experience necessary.

art between the lines is an Outdoor Art/Happening Mart. The idea is simple: $25 buys you the space to create, sell, promote, or play during our Open Studios events every 2nd Friday of the month. We provide the space between the lines, the advertising, and the crowd.
