Brazee is thrilled to welcome back glass artist and author Brad Walker! Join Brad in this exciting 4-day workshop devoted to firing glass to temperatures above normal fusing range. Students will reach into the kiln and comb molten glass, in addition to exploring "bubble ups" - a technique in which glass is arranged and fired to create unique circular patterns.
Combing is one of the most exciting processes you can do in the kiln. After arranging the glass, it is firing to high temperatures, making it soft. Then students will use a tool to reach into the hot kiln and rake across the surface of the glass, creating striped patterns and flowing designs.
In the Bubble Up, glass is arranged and fired to create clear areas in a particular pattern. The resulting pieces have a series of round clear areas, patterned or random. Students will start with the basic technique, then move on to more advanced alternatives in spacing and pattern.
Significant glass cutting experience required.
$650 - Registrations after October 1st
