Brazee is honored to welcome internationally acclaimed bead artist Astrid Riedel to our studio! Do not miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to study with this pioneering glass artist, visiting us all the way from Pretoria, South Africa.
Learn to create beads like you've never seen! Using the Mokumegane/Battuto technique, students will create elaborate, layered and textured beads. Day 1, students will be walked through the steps to create multi layered cane, lentil shaped beads, and layering techniques using enamels and shards. Then on the second day, learn to cold work, polish and add final details to your beads such as stringer, murrini and more. You won't believe what you can create using this jaw dropping technique!
Some torch experience is required.

Originally a goldsmith, Astrid Riedel has been working with glass for more than a decade. She is known for her ability to push the boundaries of glass as a medium and create beads unlike any others. She is an avid experimenter who likes to try new techniques in her work. She pulls influences from both the glassblowing world and the contemporary art world to create never before seen designs. The body of Riedel's work is in wearable glass necklaces which are almost entirely made of glass components. Riedel has been teaching around the world for more than five years, and currently resides in Pretoria, South Africa.
