Since 2001 when she first held a glass rod to a bench torch, artist Dorie Guthrie has focused her energies on shaping glass. To advance her experience working with glass, Dorie earned scholarships to Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Craft, and Pittsburgh Glass Center where she expanded her skills in kilncasting, flameworking, fusing, and imagery techniques. For five years, Dorie worked at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA, and was selected to demonstrate flameworking techniques at the Toledo, OH Glass Art Society Conference 2012. Dorie is currently employed at Michiko Sakano Glass in Brooklyn, New York and will be teaching several workshops in the spring and fall including Urban Glass, Appalachian Center for Craft and GoggleWorks.
