Jim Weiler is back! Jim returns to Brazee to teach a 3-day comprehensive pattern bar workshop. Fusers! Take your projects to the next level and learn from this accomplished fusing and pattern bar expert.
In this class we will explore multiple approaches to generate flowing patterns within glass. While the patterns look random, they are ultimately controlled by the maker and are repeatable through the pattern bar technique. Each student will generate two different plates using the two different approaches emphasized in the class.
Students will be exposed to concepts ranging from diverse firing schedules, to glass volume calculations and layups, and specific coldworking techniques to ensure successful glass pieces in the classroom and beyond.
Jim Weiler has been working with glass for over 20 years. Armed with a Masters degree in glass, he has taught at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and most recently at Bullseye Glass Company in Portland, Oregon. He currently resides in the metropolis of Farmer City, Illinois, where he owns a glass studio that focuses on kiln-forming techniques. To see more of Jim's work, visit weilerglass.com.
